A day of calamities!!
First we arrived at the airport 6 hours early (got the bloody flight time wrong) flight then delayed by an hour so we missed the last train. We arrived in Heerenveen a day late.
When we got there, the steering gear, which was to be finished a week ago, was still lying in a shed!
First thing we planned to do when we got on board was, turn on the hot water, which had been working great last time, guess what, no hot water!! 5 hours later all the power went down, batteries flat, no hot or cold water!!
In the mean time, after the Harbour Mastering giving me one bike for €20, he pointed out another old bike among the scrap metal. All it needed was a front wheel, which I got for 50. Now we have 2 working bikes. Off we both cycled to the town, for a great Italian meal.
After fiddling about with wires, battries and the boiler today, I think it's coming together. The power's back, I know now why we've no boiler working, but hope to have hot water tomorrow. The weather's lovely, so a cold shower's not so bad!!
This evening, we got on the bikes, cycled into the town and all along the canal. Fantastic!
