There is so much I can say, really!
Living in a place that "turned" racist over the last 30 years there are parts of this that not experiencing it one would never guess...
First,
Yes - they totally believe being racist is a right, and American one at that.
They also believe that they have the freedom to believe whatever they want about reality as long as there is another one to back them up.
They say, you want them to believe in your reality, so then why shouldn't they believe in their own?

Meaning to say it's a problem simple logic will not cure.
And as long as the right wing use it as the gasoline for their bonfire, it won't go away quickly either...
