Today I went to Dolalghat, a village in Kavrepalanchok district of Nepal. This place is 70 kilometer from Kathmandu, the capital. I was just accompanying my friend for a ride. He had some paperwork pending there and he was bored to go alone there on a bike. The highway in the photo is known as Araniko highway, named after famous artist of Nepal Araniko born in 1245 and who went to China during Yuan dynasty to study arts. Since this highway connects Nepal with China, the highway got its name from this famous personality. You can reach Lhasa in China from this road. I have went upto Nepal-China border known as Khasa. There is a huge Chinese market. Now it is closed due to the frequent natural calamities around the highway around Tatopani.
The river is known as Sunkoshi. In English it means river of gold. I don't know why it is named as such but it is said that small amounts of gold can be found in the sand of this river. This river flows from Tibet in China and mixes with Saptakoshi in eastern Nepal and then mixes with Ganges in India. Famous for adventure activities, it is one of the favorite spots for Rafting, kayaking, canyoning, bungee jumping and many others.
