Standardizing the indicators for the chart has begun. this will make it easier to do a number of things:
- pipeline the development of more (standard) indicators as provided by TALib-web
- hive the indicators off into a separate library, enabling importing of specific indicators, and keep the core bundle size down
- add an indicator and calculate the back history data
- Lay the ground work for user (developer) defined custom indicators
- Lay the ground work for the indicator config dialogue, input settings, colour ect
Now have the following indicators implemented:
- RSI
- EMA
- BBands
What made the standardization relatively painless was discovering the JSON file in the TALib-web repository which provides all of the definitions of the API functions.
There's still a number of things to do before the implementation of more indicators is streamlined. In code, making things as flexible as possible for the end user often brings an extra level of abstraction and complexity.
I've always had my eye on the bigger goals with this project, which means I skipped starting simple and adding upon it. So sometimes I've made more work for myself than necessary. But on the upside, I'm starting to reap the benefits of this as it becomes easier to iterate over the development of similar features or functionality.
I haven't pushed any of these developments to GitHub or NPM yet. I'm behind on schedule as I spent a good deal of yesterday doing battle with hard drive errors causing havoc and me trying to find solutions so I don't lose my data.
Guess who hasn't backed up recently?
However this project is safe as I regularly push commits to two separate remote repositories.
