Ethereum Devs Delay Glamsterdam Testnet Fork Over Smart Contract Risks
Plus: Greece Passes Crypto Capital Gains Tax, Bitcoin Misses Friday Tech Stock Rebound
Good Morning Lions,
Ethereum's core devs picked a slower Glamsterdam over a risky one, and I think that's the right call every single time. Breaking contracts that are already deployed costs far more than a delay on a testnet calendar. Over in DeFi.. a thin cbXRP lending book on Base sits one more leg down from forced selling, and XRP is already the weakest major on the board this morning.
Ethereum Devs Delay Glamsterdam Testnet Fork
TL;DR: Ethereum core developers won't fork Glamsterdam onto the Hoodi testnet until concerns tied to eight smart contract invariants are resolved, the Ethereum Foundation said in a Friday blog post. The risks stem from two proposals in the upgrade, EIP-8037 and EIP-8038.
Greece Passes Crypto Capital Gains Tax
TL;DR: Greece's parliament approved a 10% capital gains tax on crypto on Nov. 5, according to Reuters as reported by CryptoSlate. The first €500 in annual gains is exempt from the tax. The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027.
Bitcoin Misses Friday Tech Stock Rebound
TL;DR: Bitcoin fell below $75,000 after Friday's Wall Street open, according to TradingView data cited by Cointelegraph. US stocks rebounded the same day on tech buying, and October payrolls came in above forecasts.
Morpho cbXRP Borrowers Sit Near Liquidation
TL;DR: CryptoSlate's Nov. 6 snapshot of a Morpho lending market on Base showed about 8.84 million USDC of debt backed by cbXRP collateral close to liquidation. That debt would become liquidatable after a further 10% oracle price drop, assuming positions stayed fixed.
Solana Foundation Caps Validator Delegation Program
TL;DR: The Solana Foundation capped its Validator Delegation Program at 12 months of membership and 100 validators, according to Crypto Briefing. The foundation also set a 300,000 SOL external-stake threshold at which validators exit the program.
Harwood Voters Reject Data Center Limits
TL;DR: Voters in Harwood, North Dakota rejected a charter amendment that would have added reviews and hearings for data centers, Crypto Briefing reported. The result lets an Applied Digital data center project in the town continue.
Sui Pitches Its Chain for Agents
TL;DR: EVE AI Lab ran a joint study of AI agents operating in a persistent virtual world with scarce resources. Sui is not a partner in the study, but its own materials argue the Sui chain can reproduce those same conditions for agents.
If the eight invariant concerns get cleared fast, Hoodi goes back on the calendar and Glamsterdam just hit a speed bump. If EIP-8037 or EIP-8038 needs a redesign, frens, expect the mainnet timeline to slide with it 🦁 — Khal
