US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Draw $6.34B in Their Strongest Quarter of 2026
Good Morning Lions,
US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in about $6.34 billion in Q3. SoSoValue data has that as their strongest quarter of 2026, and BTC ran 42.71% over the same stretch, its best third quarter since 2017 according to CoinGlass.
You have to go back almost a full decade to find a Q3 like this. The money and the price moved together for three straight months.
BUT, the last print of the quarter went the other way. Fidelity's FBTC lost $125.58 million on September 30, capping a month of sharp swings in ETF flows. One red day doesn't erase $6.34B of buying.. it does tell me the flows are lumpy again heading into October, with BTC sitting at $83,953 and basically flat over 24 hours.
I think the quarterly number carries more weight than the daily one. If FBTC-style outflows string together for a week while price goes nowhere, that read gets a lot weaker.
BTC ETFs pull $6.34B in Q3 as BTC books +42.71%. FBTC sheds $125.58M on Sept 30. MetaMask exits validators. XRP OI on Binance down 15.3%.
Q3 delivers: $6.34B in, BTC up 42.71%
TL;DR: US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in about $6.34B in Q3, their best quarter of 2026 per SoSoValue, while BTC gained 42.71% for its strongest third quarter since 2017 per CoinGlass. ETF demand and price lined up for a full quarter, so the next question is whether October flows keep up.
XRP traders pull leverage off the table
TL;DR: XRP open interest on Binance is down 15.3% from its six-month high, settling near $485M on October 1 per CryptoQuant, as traders trimmed perp exposure. With XRP at $1.49 and down 1.4% on the day, less leverage means a smaller pile of positions left to liquidate if price keeps sliding.
Brazil puts BTG Pactual fund records on XRPL
TL;DR: Ripple and Brazilian market infrastructure operator CSD BR announced on Sept. 29 a first phase to mirror BTG Pactual fund-share ownership records on the XRP Ledger. CSD BR still keeps the official register, so the ledger copy is a mirror for now, not the legal record of who owns what.
MetaMask pulls validators after a security scare
TL;DR: MetaMask said Wednesday it is responding to a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure and is exiting the affected staking validators. It says it hasn't found any immediate threat to wallets. Which part of the infrastructure got hit is the detail ETH stakers need next.
BPI says MSCI's new rule is the old crypto plan
TL;DR: The Bitcoin Policy Institute says document metadata ties MSCI's proposed "non-operating company" index rule to its shelved crypto treasury plan. MSCI's own simulation showed Strategy and Metaplanet would be removed. Getting dropped from an index means funds tracking it stop holding the stock.
FBTC ends the quarter on a red day
TL;DR: Investors pulled $125.58M from Fidelity's spot Bitcoin ETF, FBTC, on September 30, per Crypto Briefing, closing out a month of sharp swings in US spot Bitcoin ETF flows. It's a single day against a $6.34B quarter, but it's the number October starts from.
DOGE gets a DeFi testnet, minus the miners
TL;DR: DogeOS launched a public, Ethereum-compatible testnet for DOGE lending and trading apps. Version one runs on selected operators and a permissioned sequencer, not Dogecoin miners. With DOGE at $0.095, the real test is when and whether miner security ever gets wired in.
MSCI's non-operating company rule is still a proposal. If it lands the way MSCI's own simulation shows, Strategy and Metaplanet get dropped right as ETF flows turn choppy, and that pressure would hit the equity side of BTC exposure. 🦁 — Khal
