Knews Flash: Independents unite behind a real human.
Starnes Begins Unification of All Third Parties
SALEM – Friday afternoon, July 20th, the Pacific Green Party gubernatorial candidate Alex DiBlasi formally withdrew his candidacy and announced his endorsement and support of Patrick Starnes, the Independent Party’s candidate for governor.
DiBlasi, 31, said he wanted to join Starnes in his effort to bring all minor parties together to support the Independent Party of Oregon. “Starnes is running on the crucial issue of campaign finance reform; we only need ONE third party in this race and that needs to be the Independent Party of Oregon.”
DiBlasi also announced his resignation from the Pacific Greens and his registration with the Independent Party of Oregon in a press conference at the Secretary of State’s election office at the state’s capitol in Salem. “I’m an independent thinker, and I support the platform of the Independent Party, which already promotes for environmental protection, a central issue for me.”
Starnes, 56, said he hopes to heal the differences between the Pacific Green Party and Oregon Progressive Party to bring everyone under one big tent, “Getting big money out of politics is what unites all Oregonians and that tent is big enough for all the minor parties to come together under; no matter if they are conservative or progressive.”
Starnes explained that he is going to make this same pitch to the Libertarian Party of Oregon and the Constitution Party as well. “I believe campaign finance reform is the common ground we can all stand on. Everyone recognizes the corrupting effect big money has on our Republic. We need to unite to fight this beast.”
