So what is community? Can you come to a community with a skill and be accepted for that skill? Can you work at developing knew skills, while you are teaching from your own background of experience-based knowledge?
You do not need a degree to know what you know. Yet a degree demonstrates capacity for depth of thinking. It also demonstrates that you can complete a difficult task, a rite of passage. It proves that you can cut through other people's bullshit, in your quest for truth.
What is stewardship? Can you work to provide a net neutral exchange in a form that does not deplete materials? Or is it just a matter of caring for the land by the most beneficial means possible. The profit does not go to the prophet.
We can use skill and theme trainings to generate the income and good will to keep self-perpetual. My personal knowledge of chemistry in natural resources should allow us to write the game plans for what is desirable in an eco-system gaming environment.
Set community expectation values with the members of the entire community. People dislike taking marching orders, yet resist taking personal initiative. We are keeping open channels of communication to a point where people find that it is okay to make an error in a learning environment.
