Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin (Radi-Allahu 'anha):
The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) used to count the days in Sha'ban in a manner he did not count any other month; then he fasted when he sighted the new moon of Ramadan; but if the weather was cloudy he counted thirty days and then fasted.

Benefits of The Hadeeth
1. Knowledge of preparation for the month of Ramadhaan.
2. Knowledge that the Prophet gave attention to the counting of the days of Sha'baan.
3. Knowledge that fasting of Ramadhaan is commenced with the sighting of the moon.
4. Knowledge that Sha'baan is counted to thirty to commence Ramadhaan fast,if sighting of moon proved abortive as a result of cloudy weather.
