Hello, Hive Friends!

Sunday greeted us with gloomy skies, cool weather, and occasional rain showers. It was the kind of day that made me want to stay indoors, listen to the raindrops outside, and enjoy a warm home-cooked meal.

Since I was planning to cook lunch anyway, I checked what ingredients I had available and decided to prepare a comforting dish made with chopped chicken, sponge gourd (patola), and glass noodles (sotanghon). It is one of those simple meals that pairs perfectly with rainy weather because of its light broth and heartwarming flavors.

I started by cooking the chicken until it became tender and flavorful. After that, I added the sponge gourd, which gave the dish a natural sweetness and freshness. Finally, I added the glass noodles, allowing them to soak up the delicious broth. Before long, the kitchen was filled with an inviting aroma that made me even more excited for lunch.

As someone who lives alone, I usually cook only enough food for myself. However, today I accidentally prepared more than I expected. Looking at the pot, I realized there was enough to share. That immediately made me think of my two favorite neighbors. These neighbors have always been kind to me, and over time we have built a good relationship through simple conversations and acts of kindness. Because of that, I decided to prepare two bowls of the dish and bring them over while it was still warm. Thankfully, they gladly accepted it.

Seeing their appreciation made me happy. Sometimes, sharing food does not require a special occasion. A simple homemade meal can be enough to brighten someone's day, especially on a cold and rainy afternoon. After delivering the extra portions, I finally sat down to enjoy my own lunch. The warm broth, tender chicken, soft glass noodles, and fresh sponge gourd tasted even better knowing that the meal had been shared with others.

To complete my meal, I enjoyed a few bananas afterward. Earlier that morning, I had purchased them from a rolling store that passed through our area. I thought they would make a simple and healthy snack later in the day, and they turned out to be the perfect dessert after my hearty lunch. Their natural sweetness complemented the warm and savory flavors of the dish I had prepared. With a full stomach, a bunch of bananas for dessert, and the relaxing sound of rain outside, I found myself appreciating the simple pleasures that often make ordinary days feel special.

Moments like this remind me that happiness often comes from simple things. It can come from a humble home-cooked dish, the relaxing sound of rain outside the window, and the opportunity to share what we have with people around us. What started as cooking lunch for one unexpectedly became lunch for three, and I think that made this rainy Sunday even more special.

Thank you for dropping by and reading my blog today. Wishing everyone a warm, comfortable, and blessed Sunday!
