As I get older, I have started to realise that life teaches us things that no school, book, or classroom can really prepare us for. Some lessons come from good experiences, but honestly, some of the most important ones come from the difficult moments. When we are young, we sometimes think we have everything figured out. We make plans, set goals, and believe we have plenty of time to do everything we want. But as the years go by, we start to see life differently.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned is not to take people or time for granted. When you are younger, you can easily think that your family and friends will always be around. You might tell yourself, “I will call them tomorrow,” or “I will visit when I have more time.” But tomorrow is not always guaranteed. Life gets busy, people move, circumstances change, and sometimes we lose people before we realise how much they meant to us.

If there is one lesson I learned the hard way, it is that you cannot make everyone happy. I used to care a lot about what people thought of me. I wanted to be helpful and kind, and I sometimes went out of my way just to avoid disappointing people. Eventually, I realised that no matter how hard you try, there will always be someone who is unhappy with you or disagrees with your choices.

At first, accepting that was difficult. I wondered whether I was doing something wrong. But with time, I understood that I cannot live my life constantly trying to get everyone's approval. Being a good person does not mean saying yes to everything. Sometimes you have to say no, sometimes you have to walk away and sometimes you simply have to choose your own peace.

Another thing I have learned is that mistakes are not always as bad as they seem at the time. Looking back, there are things I wish I had done differently. There are decisions I regret and situations I wish I could change. But I have also realised that those experiences helped shape the person I am today. Some mistakes taught me patience, others taught me to be more careful about who I trust. Most importantly, they taught me that making a mistake does not mean my life is over. You learn, you adjust, and you keep going.

If I could go back and talk to my younger self, I would probably say, “Relax. You don't have to have everything figured out right now.” I would tell myself not to spend so much time worrying about what other people think. I would say to take more chances, enjoy the little things, and spend more time with the people who genuinely care about me.

I would also tell my younger self to stop worrying so much about the future. Of course, planning ahead is important, but there is a danger in being so focused on tomorrow that you forget to enjoy today. Life can change so quickly. Sometimes the ordinary days we don't think much about become the memories we miss the most.

Getting older has not given me all the answers, but it has taught me to appreciate life differently. I have learned that happiness is not always about having more money, more success, or more possessions. Sometimes happiness is simply having people you can laugh with, having peace of mind, being grateful for your health, and being able to wake up and enjoy another day.

If I could give my younger self one final piece of advice, it would be to tell her "don't rush through life". Make your mistakes, learn from them, love people, forgive when you can, and don't forget to enjoy the journey. You will never get your time back, so make the most of it while you have it.

The older I get, the more I understand that life is not about getting everything right. It is about learning, growing, appreciating the people around you, and becoming a better version of yourself along the way.

Thanks for checking on my blog and have a wonderful day
