Accepting people for who they are, but also learn to place them where they belong in your life. I think this is something we all learn differently as we grow.
There was a time when I believed that if I loved people genuinely, they would naturally treat me the same way. I thought being there for someone meant they should always have a place close to me.
But as time goes on, I realized that you can actually love someone and still need distance from them. You can forgive someone and still decide not to trust them the same way again. You can care about someone and still understand that they don't belong in your inner circle and the truth is, there is nothing wrong with that.
Not everybody you meet is meant to have the same access to you. Some people will become very important parts of your life. They will know your struggles, your plans, your fears, your dreams and the things you don't tell everyone. Those people are the ones that deserve the front-row seat.
They are the ones who genuinely want to see you do well. They check on you without needing anything. They correct you when you are wrong without trying to bring you down. They celebrate your wins without secretly competing with you. Most importantly, their presence gives you peace rather than making you constantly question where you stand.
Then there are people who are better kept at a little distance.
You can still greet them, you can still wish them well, you can still forgive them, you just don't have to give them access to every part of your life.
I have come to understand that distance isn't always about anger. Sometimes, it's simply about knowing yourself well enough to protect your peace.
Remember, you are the owner your own life. That means you get to decide who stays close, who gets promoted and who needs to leave.
Keep people around you who inspire you to become better. Keep those who are honest with you, keep those who are loyal, even when you are not in the room, keep those who don't make you feel like you have to constantly prove your worth.
And when someone's presence repeatedly brings confusion, disrespect, negativity or unnecessary stress into your life, don't be afraid to step back.
Not every relationship has to end with a fight, sometimes you just outgrow people, sometimes people change, sometimes you change, and sometimes you finally realize that the person you kept making excuses for was never really good for your peace in the first place.
That's life, we shouldn't spend all our energy trying to convince people to treat us better. At some point, we have to pay attention to their actions and make our own decisions.
So, accept people as they are. Don't keep expecting someone to become the person you wish they were.
Instead, take people as they show themselves to you and give them the level of access that their actions have earned.
Some people deserve a front-row seat, some belong somewhere in the middle, and some are best loved from a distance. There is no need to feel guilty about that.
Protect your peace, protect your energy, protect the things you are building. You only get one life, and you don't have to give everybody a backstage pass. Choose your people wisely.
Thank for checking on my post and have a wonderful day
