I have come to realize that one of the hardest things in life is learning not to depend on other people to give you a reason to keep going. Sometimes we look for that reason in the people around us. We want someone to encourage us, believe in us, choose us, appreciate us, or simply remind us that we matter

And honestly, there is nothing wrong with wanting those things because we are human, we need people. But there is a point where you have to find something inside yourself that keeps you moving, even when nobody is cheering for you.

That, to me, is where real self-esteem begins. Self-esteem is not about walking around thinking you are better than everyone else. It is not about pretending that you have everything together. Sometimes it is simply being able to look at yourself and say, “I may not have everything figured out, but I know I am worth fighting for.”

I think many of us give other people too much power over how we see ourselves. Someone doesn't appreciate us, and suddenly we question our worth. When someone leaves, and we start wondering if there is something wrong with us when someone criticizes us, and we carry their words around for years.

But people will have their opinions. People will come and go. Some people will understand you, and others never will. You cannot build your entire sense of worth around how other people treat you.

At some point, you have to come back to yourself, you have to ask, “What do I want for my life?”

Not what will make everybody happy, not what will make people accept me and definitely not what will make me look successful in other people's eyes but what actually matters to me

What am I willing to get up and work for? What kind of person do I want to become? What is my reason for continuing, especially on the days when I don't feel motivated?

I think those questions matter because life will not always be easy. There will be disappointments. There will be rejection. There will be days when you question yourself and wonder whether all the effort is worth it.

You cannot control everything that happens to you, you can not control who stays, you can not control who leaves, you cannot control what people think about you but you can decide what you do with what life gives you.

It is your decision to heal, to learn, to start again and it is your choice to decide that one bad experience will not become the definition of your entire life.

And sometimes, taking control of your life doesn't look like making some huge change, sometimes it is just getting up the next morning and deciding, “I am going to try again.”

That is strength too, your reason may be your dreams, it may be your family, it may be the life you want to create. Or it may simply be the desire to become a better version of yourself than you were yesterday.

Whatever it is, find it, because when your reason comes from within, you don't become completely dependent on other people's approval. You can appreciate people's love without needing it to prove your worth.

You can accept criticism without allowing it to destroy you. You can love people without losing yourself in them, and you can walk away from situations that no longer serve you without believing that you are losing your value.

For me, that is what true self-esteem is, It is knowing that I still have value even when nobody is clapping for me, knowing that I can make mistakes and still choose to grow, knowing that I can have bad days without believing I have a bad life.

And perhaps most importantly, it is learning to stand with myself.

So maybe the question isn't always, “Who will be there for me?” Maybe sometimes the better question is: “What is my reason for being here, and am I willing to show up for myself?”

Find your reason, hold on to it, and keep becoming because the moment you stop waiting for someone else to give your life meaning is the moment you start taking your power back. That, to me, is true self-esteem.

Thank for checking on my post and have a wonderful day
