Two girls with very long hair, but I gave each one a completely different look. One has straight hair that flows downwards, while the other has wavy hair flowing upwards.
I love how the wavy hair almost looks like it's defying gravity. It gives the drawing a slightly dramatic feel, like there's an invisible wind blowing, or like she's underwater, or maybe something magical is happening just outside the frame. Meanwhile, the straight hair falls in the opposite direction, creating a nice contrast between the two.
It got me thinking about how much personality you can give a drawing just by changing the way you draw certain features. Straight hair falling down feels completely different from a wavy one floating upwards, even though it's just hair.
Long hair is actually fun to draw because there’s so much you can do with it. You can make it wavy, straight, messy, or let it take up half the page if you feel like it.
