En mi ciudad de residencia San Juan de los Morros todos estos días se han realizado actividades por la lucha contra el cáncer de seno, y llegué a presenciar algunas de ellas, por ejemplo, un desfile rosado con más de 500 personas, en su mayoría mujeres quienes se desplazaron por las avenidas Bolívar y Sendrea, con la presencia de la Sociedad Anticancerosa ubicada en la avenida Los Puentes.

Estaba yo por los lados del Banco Mercantil, y me llamó la atención que en plena avenida había unas 5 parejas de niños con los vestuarios de joropo y al ritmo de arpa, cuatro y maracas, deleitaban a los presentes con sus dinámicos movimientos.

Entre las damas asistentes distinguí a una amiga de varias décadas y de nombre Patricia Hermoso la cual se acompañaba con una de sus hijas y dos nietas.

Nos saludamos afectuosa y efusivamente, tal como es nuestra costumbre, y luego que se reanudó la caminata, me fui un rato atrás y aplaudiendo esta manifestación que exhibía bombas, pancartas y muchos elementos de este color rosado.

El cáncer de seno es muy común entre las mujeres de nuestro municipio, pero los hombres también corren un riesgo de menos incidencia de desarrollarlo.

Una de las damas que marchaban me hizo gentil entrega de una hoja contentiva de los servicios que se realizan en la Sociedad Anticancerosa y donde se ofrecen los servicios de mastología, ecografía o radiología.

Al final está el mensaje Tócate que invita a las féminas a explorar sus senos en busca de algún elemento extraño que haga sospechar la presencia de granos cancerosos.

Igualmente, había letreros de El cáncer es curable si se diagnostica a tiempo.

Me llegaron a la mente muchos recuerdos de cuando una persona recibía el diagnóstico de cualquier cáncer, lo cual conllevaba a una muerte segura porque en esos tiempos de la década de 1960 no había avances en torno al cáncer, y de manera irremisible cualquier paciente lo que debía hacer era esperar la muerte.

En el transcurso de los años los avances de la ciencia han encontrado la forma de enfrentar este mal del cual ningún humano está exceptuado de padecer.

Pero hay quienes no luchan por sobrevivir a este mal, y hace 15 días una sobrina de mi esposa falleció a causa de cáncer de seno en la ciudad de Puerto Ordaz a una edad que apenas superaba los 40 años. Y también es observable que una hermana de ella sí se realizó las correspondientes sesiones de quimioterapia y sigue en su lucha por la vida.

Bien, el desfile continuó entre música y el baile de los niños mientras el camión desbordaba mucha alegría y entusiasmo por los lugares antes mencionados.

Desde la comunidad motherhood aprovecho la ocasión para motivar a las madres a asistir a los centros de atención contra el cáncer de mama para que se hagan los respectivos chequeos y buscar asesoría en el personal que con mucho amor y entrega están dispuestos a orientar, ayudar y brindar su apoyo.

Mi recomendación final es solicitar información de cómo hay que tocar los senos para detectar o desechar este mal para atacarlo a tiempo.
