Many people think that development is only about building skyscrapers, houses, and many other buildings. However, development without a grand design will only cause disaster in the future.
One of the developments that I criticize in my posts is housing. Many property developers build houses and properties for profit. They do not think about the future problems. The classic problem is that almost all housing areas in Bekasi and Jakarta are flooded in the rainy season.
The demand for houses is very high because Bekasi and Jakarta are two of the biggest cities in West Java. Thousands of urban people work in the cities. They have families, and they need houses.
Unfortunately, the government did not have a grand design in rural areas to develop housing areas. Therefore, property developers develop housing in green and farming areas. Farming areas are used for storing rain water. Where is the rainwater flowing when there are storage areas? The water will enter houses.
This was a flood in a housing area where the area used to be rice field.
In the coming years, all houses here should be sold to corporations. They would build apartments, hotels, malls, and business centers in my area.
