Last month, the realization hits me while I am randomly painting. Should I open a commission for my shop that realization made my whole day productive I painted 3 or 4 paintings in just one sitting that how motivated I am? You feel the bursting energy that you can't stop but do it.
I always hold back, my friend always encourages me to do it but, my brain is telling "you're not ready yet". Yes, after that I feel unmotivated again. I always believe what my gut telling if it tells you "yes, go" Imma go instantly. Nothing gonna lose if you try right? At least you tried. I still have this mindset that "what if I fail?" girl that's the part of life. There are people out there who will appreciate what you love to do, so do it.
Art saved me from everything. That I almost give up doing. Looking back at my past art. I did improve a lot. I thank myself for patiently practicing. Sometimes I betray myself by not believing that I will improve.
Stop with the drama! LOL. Back to the process.
Months ago I changed the position of my workspace from facing the window, now my back facing the window. My face can't handle the sun. The problem now is my body blocking the light. That's fine I can manage.heh
These are the art materials I invested in for the past few years.
All the materials I used were almost bought from Shopee.
I love this mechanical pencil. What I love about this is its weight of it, others prefer the lightweight pen. I almost got scammed into buying the mechanical pencil of pentel the expensive one thank god I don't have the budget to buy so I just find the cheaper version of it. Bought it for two bucks. LOL
Million watercolor brushes I own. This is the only one that works for me. Chinese calligraphy brush is perfect for watercolor.
Sketching the subject first. Sketch it in the lightest not too hard. Look how pretentious I look. I just wanted a cool shot of it.
The sketch is done. Look how messy it is. A fine-line pen will fix that later. I don't know but I like doing the messy sketch. It gives like natural flow to it.
I am applying light color to it first. Don't be impatient. If you're impatient, use a blower to make it dry quickly.
My technique for it is I layer the part where most of the darker shade part of the sketch.
After 3 to 4 layers of paint, I use a fine-line pen to outline it. I used a pigment pen which is waterproof. So I can layer the painting more without the ink fading.
This is the most exciting part for me. Using the pen that my cousin recommended to me I ask him why it is so expensive. Now I know, a pigment pen is waterproof perfect for watercolor. LOL. Worth the money I spent. Good investment.
Close up is still not done. This is what it look like when I added a pen to it.
This is the final result. I don't wanna add more detail to it I wanted it to be more simple.
These are a few examples of other cat portraits I painted. They are my cats by the way one of them passed away a few months ago. And my female cat gave birth to three and got one left for me. She's a few months old now. She grew up fast and maybe in months now she will be big as her mother.
