Celebrating nature seems very fitting for the summer solstice. The earth and sun are connected. The earth, and life itself, cannot survive without the sun so celebrating that makes sense to me.
For me the one draw back to the summer solstice is that it marks the time when days begin to get shorter and darker which is quite depressing for me. We still have many days of long light left though.
