I'm starting to run out of France content now. To be honest, it lasted a lot longer then I thought it would. For this post I'm going to show the remaining photos of our vacation with my in laws and an additional day trip that my wife and I took to Paris. Here we go.
The first is just a shot I like of rolling hills of the French countryside, taken in Gerberoy.
On one of the last days that my in laws were visiting we went to the city of Amiens and Gerberoy.
Our original plan was to go to Étretat to see the cliffs but I ended up getting really car sick that day and couldn't make the long 3 hour drive there. We changed plans and went to the other town and city instead. After we stopped I felt a lot better though and was disappointed that I stopped the others from seeing Étretat.
Heres me at Étretat at a different time. It's a beautiful location.
Instead of white chalk cliffs and blue sea water we saw the colorful homes in the tannery district that day.
We also saw the beautiful cathedral.
Its hard not to be impressed by the ornate architecture of the gothic churches in France.
The visuals inside were just as splendid as well.Splendid? Thats a new word coming to mind. I wonder where that one came from? Oh well I'm going with it.
There was this carving depicting a story, presumably of the churches history or one from the bible. Notice the gentleman getting beheaded. There were so many beheadings back then so who can really say who this man was?
On the floor there was a large tile labyrinth, which was actually pretty rare to see inside a church. I think its also quite lucky that it wasn't covered up by chairs.
There was a man walking on it but I don't know if he was following it's path or just admiring it. The problem with labyrinths in my experience is that they are really hard to do if there are any other people around.
They often take a lot of time and if anyone starts it after you then there is the awkward part of running into them when you're on your way back through when they are still making their way to the center.

The day was periodically overcast with a mix of sun and clouds.
Above is a statue of a priest getting ready to whip a crucifix at the devils forehead (by the looks of it) and below is a view of the church from the tannery district.
Okay moving on to Paris.
Some of these are leftovers from the day we went to the Jules Verne restaurant and others are when my wife and I visited the Montmartre District for the last time.
Above - it's an elephant statue outside of Musee d'Orsay. I've actually never been inside the museum.

You can walk to the district from the train station, the Gare du Nord, in about 20 minutes.
The first thing that you come to is the Sacre Coeur Basilica.
On this day my wife and I essentially repeated the tour that I did in the area with my sister when she came to visit several weeks before.
I won't go to deep into all of the details this time around.
We basically just checked out some shops, ate breakfast,
and took some pictures. The usual stuff.
This staircase between the apartments was a particularly neat spot.
Above is a tower that I don't know the name of.
That visit to Paris was the last we took to the big city before travelling home to Canada (beside the day we went to the airport of course). Paris was one of my favorite major cities that I've ever been to. Looking at the photos makes me miss it quite a bit. Paris actually feels more like home than Toronto Canada to me and Toronto is a city that I lived in for 3 years while attending college many years ago and one which is only about a 2 hour drive from where I live today. I'm sure that I will go back to Paris at some point in my lifetime...
