The photograph above is titled "The Cost of Cats" by Jak Wonderly. It shows us a small sample of 200 animals mutilated by domestic cats in California, which members of the animal rescue organization WildCare failed to save.
Cats are listed as one of the most important "invasive alien species" in the world according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and that the introduction of exotic species is the second largest cause of biodiversity loss, only after habitat loss.
