I recently had a little change in perspective.
I was welcoming a new member to the community and they said, "Wow, you have so many followers. How did you get so many?"
It made me pause because I think in terms of many hundreds or even thousands of followers on other social media platforms. On my personal Twitter account, I have a little over 1,600 Twitter followers. I joined Twitter in 2009. Even still, that seems like a relatively small number. On Facebook, I have a little over 1,200 "friends."
Here in Steemit, I see people who have a thousand or more followers, and I think to myself they are doing well.
But it's all about perspective, isn't it?
The reason I'm blogging on Steemit is that I want to have the freedom to write about whatever I'm curious or interested about. I can't do that blogging under my own name. I need to be more careful. But, here, I feel free.
So am I grateful for the almost 150 followers here on Steemit? Absolutely. I'm honored to be a part of a community in which we could share and dialogue on certain kinds of topics related to leadership and life. And I try to post high-quality content, and I'm glad so many of you are finding them useful or entertaining.
So thanks for being a part.
I'll probably do little acknowledgments like these at every major marker, which I think for me will happen when I cross into a new hundred.
So I'll see you at 200!
P.S—Are there certain kinds of topics you'd like to hear more about from me? Is there anything in the field of leadership, religion, Christianity, communication, or other, that I can pass along? Let me know in the comments below.
And are you just seeing my account for the first time or have you been around for awhile? Below are some of my most popular posts so far. If you have found any of them useful or interesting, feel free to share them with someone, Resteem, and follow me @leaderinsights to receive every future post.
