Argentina - Have you ever seen a pool in the middle of the beach? 馃槄馃挍
One of the reasons that convince us to go to Las Grutas was the existence of the famous "piletones" (large pools). People made these pools in the middle of the beach so famous that we said "well, we have to go see what it's all about." The day we arrived it was already very late and we couldn't even see any sand because the sea was too high. This made us wonder how it would be possible for there to be pools on the beach if there wasn't even room to go down to the shore, but the next day we understood everything 鉂ｏ笍.
Una de las razones que lograron convencernos de ir hasta Las Grutas fue la existencia de los famosos "piletones". Le hicieron tanta fama a estas piletas en el medio de la playa que dijimos "bueno, hay que ir a ver de qu茅 se trata". El d铆a que llegamos ya era muy tarde y ni siquiera pudimos ver algo de arena porque el mar estaba demasiado crecido. Esto nos hizo preguntarnos de qu茅 forma ser铆a posible que existieran piletas en la playa si ni siquiera hab铆a espacio para bajar a la orilla, pero al d铆a siguiente entendimos todo 鉂ｏ笍.
Something very particular about the beaches in this area is that during the day they offer two totally different landscapes: in the morning you can see a wide beach accompanied by caves and cliffs and in the morning afternoon the tide rises so high that it almost reaches street level. That's why when we arrived the first day at around 6 PM we couldn't see anything and we had to wait until the next day to discover the landscape that we were missing. When the sea receded, exposing the sand, we could finally see one of the pools 馃挄.
Algo muy particular que tienen las playas de esta zona es que durante el d铆a ofrecen dos paisajes totalmente diferentes: durante la ma帽ana se puede ver una extensa playa acompa帽ada de grutas y acantilados y a horas de la tarde la marea asciende tanto que casi llega hasta el nivel de la calle. Es por eso que cuando llegamos el primer d铆a a eso de las 6 PM no pudimos ver nada y tuvimos que esperar hasta el d铆a siguiente para descubrir el paisaje que nos faltaba. Cuando el mar retrocedi贸, dejando el arena al descubierto, finalmente pudimos ver una de las piletas 馃挄.
These pools are large artificially constructed rectangles so that the water can be used without having to walk the more than 200 meters to the shore in the morning hours. Due to the daily phenomenon of rise and fall of the sea, the water in this pool is not stagnant and is renewed every day, so I suppose that at this time of year it does not get warm at any time. From the outside the water looked a beautiful turquoise color and you couldn't tell how deep it was, so we had to dive in to find out. I would say that it was easily about 120 cm because it covered half of our bodies and I do not want to forget to mention that the water was freezing 馃槄.
Estas piletas son grandes rect谩ngulos construidos artificialmente para que se pueda aprovechar el agua sin tener que caminar los m谩s de 200 metros que hay hasta la orilla en horas de la ma帽ana. Debido al fen贸meno diario de bajada y subida del mar, el agua de esta pileta no queda estancada y se renueva cada d铆a, por eso supongo que en esta 茅poca del a帽o no llega a entibiarse en ning煤n momento. Desde afuera el agua se ve铆a con un color turquesa hermoso y no se distingu铆a que tan profunda era, as铆 que tuvimos que meternos para averiguarlo. Yo dir铆a que f谩cilmente eran unos 120 cm porque se nos tapaba la mitad del cuerpo y no quiero dejar de mencionar que el agua estaba helada 馃槄.
I also felt a bit ripped off by this, because I had also been told that the water was very warm, but it wasn't. Maybe because the summer was already over and those currents disappeared, but I'm not complaining too much because at least we had a beautiful sunny day in early fall 鉂ｏ笍.
Tambi茅n me sent铆 un poco estafada por esto, porque tambi茅n me hab铆an dicho que el agua era muy c谩lida, pero no fue as铆. Quiz谩s porque el verano ya hab铆a terminado y esas corrientes desaparecieron, pero no me quejo tanto porque al menos tuvimos un d铆a hermoso y con sol en el inicio del oto帽o 鉂ｏ笍.
We spent the afternoon swimming a bit in that frozen water, gossiping and talking to some locals who were also enjoying the pool, until we discovered that the tide was very close to reaching us. This was impressive because in a matter of minutes we were already very close to the water: the people who were on the shore began to come closer and closer to us 馃樀.
Pasamos la tarde nadando un poco en esa agua congelada, cotilleando y hablando con algunos lugare帽os que tambi茅n estaban disfrutando de la pileta, hasta que descubrimos que la marea estaba muy cerca de alcanzarnos. Esto fue impresionante porque en cuesti贸n de minutos ya ten铆amos el agua muy cerca: la gente que estaba en la orilla empez贸 a acercarse cada vez m谩s hacia nosotros 馃樀.
There came a point where the water invaded the level we were on and this definitely forced us to get out of the pool. Little by little, the pool mixed with the sea until it finally disappeared...
Lleg贸 un punto en el que el agua invadi贸 el nivel en el que est谩bamos y esto definitivamente nos oblig贸 a salir de la pileta. Poco a poco, la pileta se fue mezclando con el mar hasta finalmente desaparecer...
Just a few minutes later, the sea swallowed the entire pool and only the posts that delimited its corners could be seen. This gave me a little fear, because imagine that you are unaware of this effect of the tide and you are walking calmly in the water and suddenly you fall into a well 馃樀.
Tan solo unos minutos despu茅s, el mar se trag贸 la pileta completa y solo se ve铆an los postes que delimitaban sus esquinas. Esto me di贸 un poco de miedo, porque imag铆nense que desconoces este efecto de la marea y vas caminando tranquilamente en el agua y de repente te caes en un pozo 馃樀.
Well, maybe this is not possible because there are lifeguards during the day and I think that at night no one would want to go so deep into the sea. I guess 馃槄.
Bueno igual esto no es posible porque hay guardavidas durante el d铆a y creo que de noche nadie querr铆a meterse tan profundo en el mar. Supongo 馃槄.
Although the pool had already disappeared, there was still a little more beach and sun. The lifeguard was in charge of telling people not to get too far away or get close to what was the pool: poor man, surely very stressful to do that every day, because this effect of the tide is daily 馃槄.
A pesar de que la pileta ya hab铆a desaparecido, a煤n quedaba un rato m谩s de playa y sol. El guardavidas se encargaba de decirle a la gente que no se alejen mucho ni se acerquen a lo que era la pileta: pobre hombre, seguramente muy estresante hacer eso todos los d铆as, porque este efecto de la marea es diario 馃槄.
Although we still had a bit of a beautiful day left, it was soon time to leave because we had booked a tour in that area, which was definitely not in our plans (I'll talk about that later and what we had to sacrifice to pay for it). . After seeing this phenomenon on the beach I was a little more satisfied because I had never seen anything like it anywhere else, so it was definitely worth traveling there 鉂ｏ笍.
Si bien a煤n nos quedaba un poco de d铆a hermoso, pronto se hizo la hora de irnos porque hab铆amos contratado una excursi贸n en esa 谩rea, la cu谩l definitivamente no estaba en nuestros planes (luego hablar茅 de eso y de lo que tuvimos que sacrificar para pagarla). Despu茅s de ver este fen贸meno de la playa me qued茅 un poco m谩s conforme porque nunca hab铆a visto nada igual en ning煤n otro lado, as铆 que definitivamente vali贸 la pena haber viajado hasta all铆 鉂ｏ笍.
Las Grutas, considered by some to be the most beautiful beach in Argentina, gave us a beautiful day. We only had one full afternoon planned here and luckily the weather gave us the best it could at that time of year. I think we have already seen the most important thing, which was the effect of the water, but we still have to verify that the sea is warm as they say. Will it be a destination to return to in the summer? I dont see why not 鉂わ笍.
Las Grutas, considerada por algunos como la playa m谩s linda de Argentina, nos regal贸 un d铆a hermoso. Solo ten铆amos planeada una tarde completa en este lugar y por suerte el clima nos di贸 lo mejor que pudo en esa 茅poca del a帽o. Creo que ya vimos lo m谩s importante que era el efecto del agua, pero a煤n nos queda pendiente comprobar que el mar es c谩lido como dicen. 驴Ser谩 un destino para regresar en el verano? No veo por qu茅 no 鉂わ笍.
