Christmas-themed cup holder (ENG/ESP)

I feel so happy because, despite everything that's happened this year, I've been able to complete several of the projects I set for myself. Today I'm sharing a new Christmas-themed project I made for my husband's grandmother: a little Christmas decoration crocheted with strips of white and red t-shirt yarn. Initially, the idea was to make a coffee cup holder, but then she suggested using it to decorate a living room cushion. We loved how beautiful it looked on the cushion, and although it blended in a bit with the red of the cushion, that's what my grandmother wanted. If she was happy with her decoration, we were too.

Me siento muy feliz, porque pese a todo el ambiente que hemos atravesado este año, haya podido lograr varios de los proyectos que me propuso, hoy paso a compartirles un nuevo proyecto con temática navideña, que hice para regárselo a la abuela de mi esposo, un detalle navideño, tejido con tiras de trapillo blanco y rojo, al principio la idea era de una poza taza para el café, pero luego a ella le surgió la idea de usarlo para decorar, un cojín de los muebles de la sala, y nos encantó lo hermoso que quedo en el cojín, y aunque se perdía un poco con el color rojo del cojín, fue lo que la abuela quiso hacer, si ella estaba feliz con su decoración, nosotros también.

For the past few days, I've been cutting strips of flexible fabric to make rolls for Christmas decorations and other projects I have planned.

This time, I had a coaster for my grandmother on my list, so I lovingly picked up my wooden needle and started crocheting with the roll of white strips. I began by making a magic ring of 6 single crochet stitches, closing with a slip stitch. Then I increased the size of this ring until I reached the point where I would begin the next step.

Hace días, me he estado dedicando a cortar varias tiras de telas flexibles, para hacer rollos de tiras, para usarlas en tejidos de Navidad, y para otros proyectos que tengo en lista.

En esta oportunidad, tenía en lista la poza taza, para la abuela, así que con mucho cariño tome mi aguja de madera, y comencé a tejer con el rollo de tiras de color blanco, empecé a tejer un anillo mágico, de 6 puntos bajos, cerrando con punto deslizado, enseguida fui aumentando este anillo, hasta llevarlo al punto, donde iniciaría otro paso.

In this step, I started crocheting the red hat directly from the circular shape. It was a failed attempt, as I couldn't get the shape right and my work ended up misshapen. So I decided to make them separately and then join them, and that worked out better.
The first thing I did was crochet 3 chain stitches. Then, on the second row, I crocheted single crochet stitches horizontally, turning the work to give it a triangular shape. I also crocheted a small circle to place on the tip of the hat as decoration.

En este paso empecé a tejer el gorro de color rojo, directamente desde la forma circular, siendo un intento fallido, puesto que no le hallé la forma y mi tejido quedaba deforme, así que pensé hacerlo de forma separada, para luego unirlos, y así fue que me resulto mejor.
Lo primero que hice fue tejer 3 puntos de cadena, luego en la segunda línea tejí puntos bajos, en sentido horizontal, volteando el tejido para darle forma triangular, además tejí un mini círculo para colocarlo, en la punta del gorro, como decorativo.

In this next step, using a wooden crochet hook, I stitched a strip of white t-shirt yarn to attach the hat to the white circle, which would be Santa's face. Then I continued crocheting Santa's beard along the edges of the circle, using only chain stitches to create a ruffle, and then filled it in with double crochet stitches.

And this project was finished for the day! I hope you liked it. I love how t-shirt yarn projects look, and I'm very excited to keep improving my techniques with this material, which is easy to find and very comfortable to work with.

En este próximo paso, y con la aguja de crochet de madera, realicé una costura con tira de trapillo blanco para unir el gorro a la forma de círculo blanco, que sería la carita de Santa Claus, luego continúe tejiendo la forma de barba de santa, por los bordes del círculo, aquí solo tejí con punto de cadena, realizando un bolado, después relleno con puntos altos.

Y este trabajo ya estuvo listo para el día, espero que les haya gustado, como se ven los tejidos con trapillo, a mí me encantan, estoy muy animada a seguir mejorando mis técnicas, con este material que puede ser fácil de adquirir y muy cómodo para trabajar.
