이번 Status ICO 때문에 이더리움에 대한 실망감을 가지신 분들이 많아지신 것 같습니다.
반면, Steem, EOS에 대한 기대감이 더 커진 것 같고요.
특히, '블록체인 네트워크를 공격하려면 전 세계 컴퓨터의 50%를 확보해야한다'는 식의 이야기를 듣고 투자하신분들께선 많이 실망하신 것 같습니다.
이더리움 네트워크의 문제점에 대해선 전부터 말이 많았지만, 지난번 Gas비용 하드포크 이후 큰 문제없이 잘 돌아가고 있었습니다.
그러나 ICO에 몰리는 투자금이 점점 커지자, 지난 하드포크때의 사태가 재현된 것입니다.
다만 의도적이었냐, 그렇지 않았냐 정도의 차이가 있을뿐이었죠.
장점이 단점으로 변하다
낮은 전송 수수료는 이더리움의 큰 장점 중 하나입니다.
이 낮은 전송 수수료가 너무 많은 트랜잭션을 발생시켜 이더리움의 발목을 잡고 있는 셈이지요.
현시점에서 실제로 책정되어야 할 이더리움의 전송 수수료는 결코 낮지 않습니다.
은행에서도 분명 전송 수수료를 무료로 할 수 있지만, 그렇게 하지 않은 이유는 수익성, 네트워크 부하 등을 감안했기 때문입니다.
이더리움 또한 네트워크 부하를 생각하면 '사람들이 거래를 어렵게 느낄 정도'의 높은 수수료가 책정되어야 합니다.
결국, 이더리움 네트워크가 활성화될수록 사용비용이 증가하며, 이것이 이더리움 네트워크가 중앙화된 서버대비 가지는 매력을 사라지게 할 것입니다.
탈중앙화된 네트워크를 누가 지킬 것인가
이더리움의 탈중앙화된 네트워크는 많은 이들이 인정하는 장점 중 하나입니다.
이번 사태를 생각해보면, 관리주체가 없는 탈중앙화된 네트워크는 기업 입장에선 그저 불안요소 중 하나일뿐입니다.
네트워크 불안정성은 둘째 치더라도, 네트워크 공격에 대해 엄격히 단속하고 처벌할 주체가 없기 때문입니다.
국가에 소속된 중앙화된 네트워크는, 공격하면 강력한 집단인 국가에 의해 제재를 받습니다.
탈중앙화된 네트워크는 네트워크 소속자들이 직접 지키는 수밖에 없습니다.
그것도 소속자들이 네트워크에 대한 굉장히 한정된 권한을 가진 상태에서 말입니다.
이더리움은 여태까지 한 사람의 리더십 아래 잘 성장해왔습니다.
하지만, 여러 이해관계자가 생기면서 조금씩 한계가 드러나고 있다고 생각합니다.
이더리움이 그간 잘 피해왔었던, 현재 비트코인이 가지고 있는 문제와 유사한 문제를 하나하나 겪어나가게 될 것으로 보입니다.
과연 지금까지처럼 잘 극복할 수 있을지 궁금하네요.

Who will keep decentralized networks
Ethereum's decentralized network is one of the many advantages that many recognize.
Considering this situation, a decentralized network without a management body is just one of the elements of anxiety for a company.
Even if network instability is the second reason, there is no subject to be strictly enforced and punished against network attacks.
A centralized network belonging to a country is sanctioned by a powerful group of nations.
Decentralized networks are bound to be protected by network members.
They also has a very limited authority over the network.
Ethereum has grown well under one person's leadership so far.
However, I think that there are several stakeholders, and the limit is gradually revealed.
It looks like ethereum will have problems similar to the current bitcoin problems.
