The name Langkawi has a history. Combination between "Lang" and "Kawi". "Lang" is taken from the words of Malay, "Eagle". Once upon a time, Langkawi was said to be home to a number of eagles. "Kawi" means "Red Heart", this is because the eagle has red feather heart and white head.
