“Talent Unused Becomes Talent Diminished.” -Robert Sharma
This morning I reread the article I wrote yesterday about luck and I was inspired to write more. And of course, I must follow my inspiration especially since that is what I write about.
If you read my post about luck, then you understand that I believe luck is what the outside world perceives as the Law of Attraction. Law of Attraction at its core is feeling the feeling of the wish fulfilled, removing all the negativity and beliefs that don’t serve you and being grateful for the everything that comes into your life.
The more we practice that, the more we notice opportunities. It's not just seeing the opportunities but acting on them as well.
I have always been pretty lucky. When I was growing up my family and friends used to call me Lucky Larry because I would find myself in some serious scrapes. Then come out smelling like a rose, completely unscathed. If everybody got in trouble for something, I'd be the one they left out. Even though I was that way growing up, and I've been pretty lucky throughout my life, it's only recently that I'm starting to lean into it. Lately, I began to expect luck, to expect things to go my way, to truly believe that everything's working out for me and that everything is perception.
I perceive that everything is for my benefit. It's all for my higher good, and because I truly believe that, I am open to all things the universe has to offer and I'm grateful for everything life has given me. Anyway, enough about me.
I was inspired to talk about a parable told by Jesus. Yes, I’m quoting the Bible, there is some good stuff in there. Anyway, the parable goes like this: A master is leaving his house to travel, before leaving, he entrusts his property to his servants. One servant received five talents, the second servant received two talents, and the third servant received one talent (where a talent was a significant amount of money).
Upon returning home, after a long absence, the master asks his three servants for an account of the talents he entrusted to them. The first and the second servants explain that they each put their talents to work, and have doubled the value of the property with which they were entrusted; each servant was rewarded: His master said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master."
The third servant, however, had merely hidden his talent, had buried it in the ground: Then the one who had received the one talent came and said, “Sir, I knew that you were a hard man, harvesting where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.”
But his master answered, “Evil and lazy servant! So, you knew that I harvest where I didn’t sow and gather where I didn’t scatter? Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return, I would have received my money back with interest! Therefore, take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten.” For the one who has will be given more, and he will have more than enough. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.
With parables, just like all stories, everything is open to interpretation and there are various morals that can be gathered from this one. Here's how I interpret it and I'd love to hear your interpretation as well, or the things that you’ve gathered from this story.
The obvious one to me is that the master called the last servant “evil.” It is evil to hoard and bury what has been given you.
I could post every day for months about beliefs we have that aren’t true concerning money. Keep in mind I'm sharing what I've learned and what's worked for me, I don’t proclaim to be a master. One thing I have learned is this, 1) money must flow. Money is like blood, like water. It must move. Otherwise, it becomes stagnant and poisonous. The reason we do not let money flow is the belief that there is a finite amount.
This is not to say that you should spend every dime that comes into your hands because if we look at moral number two from the story, 2) is that the servant who took his money and made money with it was given even more. Which says to me that if you are a good steward of money, meaning you know how to allocate, delegate, and put it into something that grows, then the universe will see that you are ready for more because you have learned what to do with it. You allow money do what it's designed to do and circulate helping countless people.
The third and last moral that I’m going to write about, even though there are many lessons in this story, 3) is that the master took from the third poor servant and gave it to the first rich servant. The rich become rich and the poor become poor. Do you know why? Financial gurus will tell you it is because they know the laws of money, but I believe it is because they trust. They understand the laws of the Universe. Not only are they good stewards of money meaning not only do they understand the mechanics of how money works, but they are also in the right vibration. They are in the abundant state of being.
This is what took me years to understand. I cut my teeth in the financial world with real estate investing. I learned everything, and I could make tons of money for other people, but I couldn't make it for myself because I failed to understand this truth. It is the feelings that you have about money. It is the negative beliefs that you're telling yourself. It is the self-talk that you do not deserve it that blocks the attraction of wealth.
The vibration of money is the feeling, acting, speaking, and living in abundance.
Now, let me clear up a misconception here that I've already touched on. Living, speaking, and acting from abundance does not mean that you just spend like you're wealthy. It is just as much about saving. It is just as much about investing. It is just as much about giving to those in need. It is just as much about putting money where it's supposed to go. To be a good steward of money is the overall point of the story from earlier.
There are some amazing books that go into this if you would like to read more. The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason, The Millionaire Mindset by T. Harv Eker, Becoming Rich by Genevieve Davis. They all talk about how we must allocate our money because there is magic in doing that. That is how we show the Universe that we know what we're doing with it and we're ready for more. That is how we become servant number one from the story.
The mechanics of money are important, but nothing is as important as the vibration of wealth. When we give and when we invest from abundance, from cosmic knowledge, we know that the money we are allocating was given to us. It was given to us from an infinite source, on ocean of abundance that we can draw upon.
When we can allocate and direct the flow of abundance we create even more. Especially when you're investing in something you’re passionate about. You're infusing universal resources with your passion, and I promise you, more will be given to you if you truly believe you deserve it.
Disclaimer: more will be given to, it might be more lessons to learn from, but it will be more none the less.
Please indulge me, if you remember the story awesome, but go back and just take a few seconds to reread the parable. Now, what if the story wasn't talking just about money? What if it was talking about actual talents, or about inspirations, or about opportunities, or about your gifts?
Wouldn't that make so much sense. That 1) you have to give your gifts to the world, they too must flow. The person who understands they have been given plenty, is grateful for what they have been given, and they give it out to the world, 2) then more comes back to them.
The person who has inspiration, who has gifts and talents but keeps them to themselves, buried under a mountain of negative beliefs. “I can't do it” beliefs, or “nothing ever works for me” beliefs, or “I'm just unlucky” beliefs, maybe “I never get any breaks,” or “life sucks” beliefs, they will get those opportunities snatched away from them.
How many times have you heard a person close to you have a great idea, but they never followed through with it? 3) Then less than a year later, someone else has a similar idea exept they ran with it and it turned out to be extremely successful.
This understanding is the wisdom of the Universe. This is real luck, Life Using Cosmic Knowledge. The knowledge that you are given inspiration and talent for a reason. When the Universe inspires you to do something, it already has a thousand different ways for that inspiration to come into reality. All we have to do is trust it and follow it. That is how we create luck.
How lucky are we to know this truth and live it?
Good journey my friends.
