Lamas frightened wolves

Swiss shepherds use lamas to keep wolves from tearing their animals.

Wolves are especially frightened by the hysterical neighing and spitting of the animals, the Swiss herd protection commissioner Daniel Mettler said. 30 to 40 wolves are now found on the alpine meadows of Switzerland, where the 350,000 sheep are swimming in the summer months. In 2014 the pirates ripped 22 farm animals, in 2015 even 322 and 2016 even to the 400 sheep. The shepherds have now observed that wolf herds that are protected by a llama are avoiding.

Animal protectionists, on the other hand, criticize the use of the andes for herd protection. Lamas would have to be kept at least two. But then the protection of the lamas is reduced, and the shepherds are remembered. If there is a kind of companion, the lama cares especially for him - the sheep are no longer interested.
