Peter Deakans is an architect. He worked in the 1970s at the company that pulled up the high-rise buildings in Kensington, including the Grenfell Tower. Now Deakans stands before the ruins, for the first time since the inferno a month ago. Terrible, he says, there are no words for it, he does not even want to try it, the idea is hardly to endure.

For a month, the burnt-out tower of the house has been standing as a black skeleton in the sky in the west of London. After the fire, only firefighters and investigators left him. Nobody knows how many people have died in the fire. The official number is at least 80. Of these, 32 were actually identified, but survivors and residents say: There must have been a lot more people in the building. Sergeant Alistar Hudgens has been looking for tracks with his team.

The British government has set up an investigation commission. But the confidence of those affected is fragile, both to the chairman of the commission as well as to the district administration. The rich district of Kensington has some 300 million pounds on the high ridge, with part of it, Campbell wants to buy empty apartments and build new social apartments. More than two dozen families will be paid a temporary accommodation.

It is still unclear why the fire spread so quickly: whether or not the material used for the exterior trim was acceptable, whether it was appropriate or not, whether the building inspector failed or not. All high-rise buildings with a similar façade are currently being inspected all over the country, more than 200 have already passed the test - and all have failed.
