If you do find it interesting, do drop in we're always chatting away over at entrypoint, and since it is a very old project, we often discuss the ethics of the project and ask ourselves these questions.
One of the original problems that was dealt with was the sharing of keys, when SOM was just a little baby project back in 2017 a small group of friends just had posting keys that they casually shared with each other, but as the project grew more sophisticated it started using the blockchains own authentication mechanisms: you authenticate SOM by allowing it to use voting access on your account under its own keys, and when you no longer want it to vote when your account reaches 100% VP, you can always revoke that.
That being said we've taken a whole lot of effort to make the project ethical and beneficial, and if you want to check out the source you're welcome to pop in and comment :)
