A visit to the Oregon coast this spring inspired me in the project of making my first gate ever.
I felt a need to have a part of my yard fenced in maybe temporary to keep my young dog safe.
After collecting driftwood and some pieces of wood from neighbors and friends the trip went to Home Depot to get a bit of wood, hinges and fence post anchors.
I bult a simple square frame and attached pieces of wood like a puzzle. I pre drilled holes and screwed in the wood.
The fence posts i made from a small tree my neighbor had cut. Nothing was straight and gate is only level when closed.
Here is a fresh photo to show how gate is looking this fall.
A dear friend made copper art to protect post surface from decay.
I made a simple latch with a stick and a screw.

Stones collected from various trips.
I had fun creating this inexpensive gate. I chose to use fence post anchors and no cement since the fence and gate might not be a permanent fixture in my yard.
