My pen name is El Gato 🦁 and I am a writer/editor for IoTeX and contributor for Hackernoon on Medium. My real job is being a doctor 👩🏻⚕️, ergo the need for a pen name due to HIPPA.

Why Steam it?
What caught my eye was the Wired article “ The Social Network Doling Out Millions in Ephmeral Money” that was published in October 2017. I had previously read about how the small fish/designers/content creators were being squeezed out by the large businesses who could afford to put ads on Facebook. Ironically, that was exactly what I was reading about on Facebook. As someone who remembered what it was like NOT having a Facebook, I felt that it was true that, over the past few years, the quality of the original content on Facebook has dropped significantly. Working as a blogger, I disliked a model where original content drowned in a pool of clickbait.

Why do I have so much free time to freelance?
I am currently on a sabbatical because I moved across the world with my partner for his fellowship. I am someone who is balls to the walls, crazily intense at work. I used to work 80–100 hours a week. I guess when you are used to working that much, it seems like you always have enough time for “extracurricular activities”. It is all about perspective 🤔.
