Another Tuesday is here and I promised myself not to miss participating in the #ThreeTuneTuesday initiated by @ablaze. This is my first entry. Even so, I love music and due to a funny incident that happened over the weekend, I thought of sharing my recommendation with you all.
Do you think music aids healing? I think music does many things including making a sick person better sometimes without the use of drugs.
Over the weekend, I fell terribly ill. It was a funny situation but at the time it happened, it was not. I could laugh about it only after the storm was over!
I had stomach pains and the situation kind of turned my world upside down. Literally, that was how I felt. While rolling on the ground in pain, I fiddled with my phone and set some tracks to play in a continuous loop. Anything to take my mind off the pain. One of such songs is Adele's Easy on Me.
Adele is one terrific singer. Her songs are sometimes soulful, her lyrics are always meaningful and her voice is beautiful. As I listened to the track, these words stuck out…
"I know there is hope in these waters
But I can't bring myself to swim,
When I'm drowning in this silence…"
It was like that part of the song spoke to me. Like I was drowning in my pain of carelessness and can't swim out of the pain. To stop the pain from hindering my cooking dinner, I searched my purse, found clofenac and took a 100mg pill.
I went about my cooking, expecting the pain to subside within fifteen minutes at most. It did not. I hurried the cooking, finished and served my family. I begged my husband to feed my youngest so I could lie down for a bit.
I hid in the room (so my sons don't cry with mommy) and rolled on the floor because the pain was excruciating. It was like my stomach was on fire! 😂 I thought the end had come and all I could think about were my sons. Who would take care of them like I do and even better? This brings to mind George Michael's song titled White Light.
Sometimes, illness can make a person re-evaluate his or her life.
Husband came into the room, saw me in pain and he became worried. When he examined the pill I took, he told me in an angry tone that it had expired. How could I be so careless? 😳😂
I laugh now because the look on his face showed he was scared for me which I appreciate. It goes to show how much he loves me. He left the house to buy some pain killers. So I put on some music to calm myself down or else I would start to groan and probably scream.
This George Michael's song titled You Have Been Loved was calming due to the singer's soulful voice and being a love song, though a melancholic one, it was soothing.
As soon as my husband returned with pain killers, I took it and fell asleep almost immediately. The songs reached through my sleep to calm me and when I woke up, I was pain free.
Music plays a significant role in healing. In my case, it soothed me and I felt I had to write about it as my induction into the #threetunestuesday initiative. 😃
I hope you like this selection. Thanks for reading.
