I am making Coffee wine today. It is being made with some old Coffee grounds and beans that I have lying around. If you are interested, here is the recipe! You will need the following
A pot big enough to boil a gallon of water.
A gallon of distilled or purified water.
4-5 Cups of nonbleached sugar.
Coffee beans or grounds of your choosing.
A warm place for the coffee wine to ferment uninterrupted
A few rags to place under the jug.
Flavoring syrup if desired. (use after fermentation process for best results)
1 tbs yeast.
Boil 1 gallon water.
Add 4 cups of sugar to the water while boiling. Stir until completely dissolved.
Add as much or as little coffee as you would like. this is dependent of your own personal taste. I used 1/4th cup of Snickerdoodle flavored beans and 1/4th cup Blueberry muffin flavored coffee grounds. This will be very interesting... Boil the beans or grounds for 3-5 minutes on stove top or until foamy/frothy.
Turn off the heat and allow to cool until warm enough to touch with pinky finger. Cool while covered for best results.
Strain the coffee grounds or beans from the sugar coffee. Do this until you are certain there are no beans or grounds in your mixture. This may take a few tries. Use a mesh strainer first, then use a coffee filter or Cheese cloth.
Pour into your sterilized fermentation vessel.
Add another cup of sugar.
Now ad your yeast.
Ferment for 4 weeks and then check progress.
Once your wine is 100% done fermenting, Purify your wine.
Once your wine is purified, taste and add your flavoring. Bottle and let sit in a warm dark place and age for an additional 4 weeks for best results.
Enjoy once aged to taste!
