I'll try to write a few posts about it. I'll have to get some photography for that, maybe come up with recipes too but I have a few, I'm not sure how to approach the subject and be interesting about it because they would sound gross to quite a few people. As delicious as they may be, you can't really pretty them up. Things like cattails, burdock root, flower petals, dandelions, broadleaf plantain, spruce tips, clover, juniper...lots of stuff like that and many abundant on most lawns labelled as weeds, at least in North-America. I'm slowly getting to know wild mushrooms like morels, chaga (known to cure some cancers in traditional Indigenous medicine and it works). Like you, I will need variety and can't eat just plants forever, might like meat from time to time even if some of those plants have proteins, good to trade with a hunter that needs wild veggies or natural pain killer. I'm trying to get my friend to join Hive with his knowledge, he's really good and loves teaching it to a popular local facebook group. I'll let you know if he decides to join, he grows his own oyster mushrooms at home from wood chips and spent coffee grinds right in his kitchen.

I don't know about talking about my ancestors, people tend to think it's braggy because they have accomplished a lot and were highly placed so I generally abstain not to rub people the wrong way. Plus the current Canadian social and racial climate around colonialism in Canada with the indigenous , it might be like lighting a dumpster fire even tho they were on the same side, most of the french were not. My parents struggle was a lot and I did learn to be resourceful and self reliant, an asset that seems more likely to be put to good use as 2020 goes on!

You are going to have to pay for shelter no matter what, rent or own, to each our own. Some do get huge houses they can't afford some are reasonable with it, depends on maturity. After the toilet tank episode,I'm glad we rent and don't have to pay or deal with the damages, it's been almost a week and the place still isn't dry. By the time I was old enough to buy it was way over valued so I rent and put some in PM's then if the precious rallies enough and the real estate market tanks a bit, then I exchange for some land, maybe like 50 acres( a calculated guess of how things will play out in the future and seem to be slowly happening) . For now I'm still in school and getting my second metal trade and most of my work is here, I rent in the city until it outlives it's usefulness.

I agree talking vacations or the latest fashion and gadgets on credit isn't the smartest, some can pay it off real quick and can afford it, many can't and do it anyway, that's where the issue is. I did the math with the average Canadian cell plan + a new phone every 2 years = $16 000 CAD in 10 years. How many have phones but whine about having no money for an education and crazy student loans or low paying job? I worked my ass off and paid for my tuition up front, it's do-able if you pick the right career even if it's not the easiest or the dream job but they pay the bills and a little left over for fun. Same as going to bars, corner store or the coffee shop everyday. We don't have to be saints but there should be a line in the sand somewhere the small $20 here $20 there add up fast and most people don't realize it.
