It's a plague all around the Western world, I come from a more natural , living off the land and uncolonized, When I was young I thought I wanted the fast life but the older I get the more I want to return to the simple life. In some Canadian Cities it cost 500k to 1 m $$ for an average house right now, a lot of people stuck in bad debt are going to be disappointed. Levels of bankruptcies are rising, the last report I read stated that banks hit 20% lower than their targets in debt collections during the first quarter due to insolvency, it might be the beginning of the end for the "too big to fail" in Canada.

Lucky for me, I made my mistakes when I was in my twenties and will recover, during that time I have made unconventional choices (precious metals) to protect myself that have proved efficient so far that on several occasions have proved to act as intended even tho the prices are low and manipulated.

Unfortunate that your neck of the woods are in the same predicament that we are. They advertise the same here, unless you have the white picket fence, you're a nobody and weird but millennials are slowly changing the paradigm, why we get so much bad press over here and being labelled the "fuck up generation". I hope that the world can get back to a fair and honest financial system in the near future.
