Docking at the Sports Complex Landing, is awesome. Again free, for a few nights, IF there is not a Jaguar’s game the next day. Needless to say the stadium is close. Boat in, get out, walk to game. Apparently they have reserved spaces and are allowed to “kick you out” if you’re there when they arrive. Sadly there was a game the next day, but since planning to leave early, it was the perfect spot to dock for the night.
Stomachs growling, Intuition Ale Works was well within walking distance. This place is pretty cool, but hey, it’s designed around a beer brewery, and everyone likes a big lofty-style space, with a huge bar (serving beer only), big open windows, outside seating and high energy and a great crowd. Tables big enough for a family or a gaggle of friends, or bar seating for singles and their plus one?
If you sit at the bar, you are only served beer. One must retreat to the “keg” to pump your own water. To be honest, I don’t remember if they even had soft drinks.
The food is provided by Black Sheep Restaurant, and the menu is short but very selective. You order at their counter and they give you a number. When your order is up, you get up, and go get it! No table service here. (Maybe with the beer)
Not being able to decide between the pork rind nachos, mac & cheese, Poutines or fries, we opted for the crinkle cut fries and the Intuition Burger. The burger was juicy and flavorful with cheese etc., and quite large. It was very good! Disappointing were the fries (must have been frozen) and the pork rind nachos next to us looked divine, wrong choice on the side dish.. BTW -they are supposed to blow your mind! And if you’re not full after a burger, fries and a beer, there’s no dessert menu, so you’ll have to order another side or another beer!
If you noticed, there has been no review of the beer! You can taste small samplings of a select variety, my friend chose the one he liked best. There has to be at least one beer, at a brewery, you will like, so leave beer tasting/critiquing, to the person drinking the beer. One can’t judge a beer by another one’s taste. And like any other brewery, they change the brews daily.
Walking back to the boat, we met some fellow boat-mates whom had helped with docking the sail boat, and we exchanged adventures. They had ventured to the whimsical carnival across from the stadium parking lot and had eaten dinner there. They also thought it was free to gain admission. It was not. But as it grew dark, a country music concert began at the Amphitheater and could be heard on the boat. Free music, free docking, free conversation and a beautiful night, so we didn’t miss out on paying for a carnival ride. We saved about $25.00
