I would like to add (almost a year later) that there is evidence that the Thule people occupied much of nunavut up to 4,000 years ago! They were followed up by the Pre-Dorset people and then Inuits. Truly amazing.
I also have to say the Inukshuks up here CONSTANTLY trick me into thinking that they are people standing on a ridge. It makes me very self concious when I'm out taking photographs because I feel like people are watching me. It's only once I get closer to the Inukshuks that I realize they are stone cairns!
In a way I guess the ancestors of this great, wonderful land are watching me.
