That old man cries fake tears. If anything they are tears of happiness that he pleased the Hive Queen! you should totally put this into a D&D town as one of the many "flavour quests" you can find. If the players can subdue the human servants and defeat the Hive Queen maybe they can save some of the ones that haven't turned yet.
