This massive underground water reservoir was split into two halves each holding 3,000,000 gallons and was accessed by lifting a hinged heavy steel hatch and climbing down a 20 foot ladder into a world of complete darkness and deafening echoes.
I'm enjoying the process of putting these posts together to share on HIVE as it has brought back some great memories from nights out with my mate Matt. We had a keen interest in exploring all types of abandoned buildings from barns to bunkers and dwellings to deep underground shelters. They are all great places to practice LP without disturbing or being disturbed. A location I have shown in my previous post on "LP and Urbex" RNCF Holton Heath is a vast site with many different structures and features that gave us lots of great spaces to practice Light Painting. At this stage, I had a lot to learn, my photography and LP skills were basic and the images I created mainly focused on light being the subject, occasionally lighting up parts of the scene to add context.
On our many return visits we started to use more techniques and being enthusiastic, we tried to add them into the scene. It was great to release creative ideas and look at the results on the back of my Sony A65v DSLR camera but still had so much to learn.
