The quick run down is that he's sharing 3 major stories, each case takes place under very closely observed circumstances. Each case is also very detailed and they lend support to the idea that something happens when the body ceases to function. Even beyond the possibility that the brain is just cycling a hallucination or dream state. The first is even a doctor who's brain was effected in such a way that, clinically speaking, he could not be dreaming at the time.
