Let’s go over (and I’ll show you a bit too) how to water your lady when you’re growing in soil
I won't give you an exact watering amount since it's super individual - depends on strain, pot size, environment, etc.
But here's a solid rule of thumb: During the first 10 days from sprout, give her around 300–400 ml every 2 days if your pot is at least 5 liters (1.3 gal). You'll be fine
This one’s the most solid indicator your girl needs a drink
✅ Grab the pot with both hands and lift it a little. If it feels light as hell — the soil’s dry, time to water
💎 Pro tip: early in the grow, memorize the pot’s weight right after watering and when it’s totally dry — that’s your reference point.
If you’re using Airpots or fabric pots, you can also check the soil color through the holes.
✅ Stick your finger about 2–3 cm (1 inch) deep. If it’s dry down there, give her some water. That’s important because the top layer can look dry while the inside’s still moist
Don’t mix this up with the “sleepy” look an hour before or after lights out — plants naturally relax their leaves then.
✅ When she’s thirsty, she’ll slightly drop her leaves, like she’s tired
💎 Just don’t wait until they go all soft and floppy — that’s stress already
Overwatering doesn’t mean “watering a lot once.” It’s about your routine. If you flood her one time — 90% chance nothing bad happens. But if you keep doing it or never let the top layer dry — that’s where root problems start. Roots need oxygen too — no air, no growth
Basically, everything opposite of what we just said
❎ If it's heavy, there's still plenty of water inside Watering again = overwatering = root rot risk.
❎ Even if the top looks dry, dig a bit or use a wooden stick - poke it in and check the tip. If it's damp, hold off.
❎ If your plant's "smiling" and reaching for the light - she's happy. No water needed yet
