Things might be starting to return to normal, hopefully the old normal and not another "new normal" like we were left with after 9-11. More than likely though, it just got a little warmer in the pot we frogs are simmering in. About ten days ago, my wife and I went to Silver Strand Beach in Oxnard, California. Except for a ban on coolers, shades and chairs, things seemed normal. There were a few covidiots at the beach with masks but, all in all, it was an enjoyable day.
A couple weeks earlier, we had gone to Ventura Beach, and you weren't allowed to sit on a towel. I was tempted to challenge the police over grammar and "lie" on the beach, but didn't. Laying down would mean setting something down, right?
Here's a couple of covidiots enjoying the fresh air with masks.
We walked from Pierpont to the Pier to get fish tacos and beer.
The tables were chained, but people still sat at them.
We couldn't walk on the pier because, you know, Corona!
On the way home, we stopped at the harbor to get a coffee, and couldn't sit on the bench there to sip it.
Not pictured, we did go out to eat at a restaurant last night. The staff wore masks, the menus were single-use, and the tables were spaced farther apart, but I did get to enjoy 23 ounces of IPA and a carnivore pizza, so it was definitely a step in the right direction. I hope your life is starting to return to some semblance of normal as well. Cheers!
