Matthew 6:22-23
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Life, from the beginning has never been lived carelessly.
The problem with Adam and Eve was that they never understood the mystery of focus that was why it was not difficult for the devil to deceive them into eating of the fruit God commanded them not to eat.
Jesus in the above scripture wanted us to understand that no man can live life careless and unguarded and attend a glorious future.
We live in a generation that is fill with diverse kinds and manner of distractions, and Jesus having known all things by the power of the spirit about the things which are to come taught us how we can handle distractions.
Before we look at the medium Christ set out for us to win over distractions, let us first of all look at the meaning of the word distraction
What is Distraction?
A thing that prevents someone from concentrating on something else or an extreme agitation of the mind.
Distractions has the power in itself to make total uselessness of a man. Adam became totally useless to God after the devil had successfully distracted him into eating the fruit in the midst of the garden.
Distraction greatest aim is to divert a man from the original intent and purpose of God for the now and render you useless.
Samuel became useless to God to a point that he died with his enemies by virtue of Delilah.
Now the truth is that many things we find ourselves doing sometimes are a perfect distractions aiming at taking us off the plans of God for our lives
Every distractions comes with a portions of pleasure with it because the devil knows he cannot successfully distract us out of purpose if there is nothing to gain. The secret is that God created us after His image and His likeness meaning that if God is a pleasure being, we too are pleasure beings and that's the reason why the devil will not just tempt us but comes with pleasures attached to those distractive measures.
Now Let's look at some distractions the devil brings our way
- Peer pressure
- Ungodly relationships
- Primarital sexual pleasures
- Sexual perversions such as lesbianism, homosexuality, masturbation etc.
Now this are the few we will be looking at in this post.
HOW TO WIN DISTRACTIONS
- Set realistic goals and work towards achieving it at all cost.
Philippians 3:14 "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus"
- Ignore every adversities that you are faced with and fix your mind and heart on the results that is set ahead of you.
Romans 8: 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
- Ignore unnecessary competitions.
There is always a way out for every distractions in life. Yield yourself to God and your life will produce results according to the design of God for your life.
