Acts Chapter 1:1
Acts 1:1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach. (NIV)
Everywhere Jesus went bible records that He was doing good, healing the sick, raising the dead, opening of blind eye and even evil spirits checked out of men at the sight of Him. From the above passage I want to lay emphasis on Jesus began to do and to teach, Jesus didn’t take delight in doing those things to be called a superman but His greatest desire was to see a repetition of all the things he did that was why He didn’t end it all in doing but also taught.
By that singular act of Jesus “doing and teaching” I’ve learnt that what I do that I’ve not taught others remains a magic to them. So what I don’t teach to others can’t find expression in them. For any act to be continued, it must be taught. Progression comes as a result of intensive teachings.
Alright let’s look at a few meaning of teaching or call it spiritual teaching.
- Teaching means planting a seed of continuity in the lives of people
- Teaching means making actions possible, and multiplying manifestations.
Now when we take delight in always doing a thing and don’t teach other people how to do it, we we become both a mystery and a bundle of joke to them and that makes our acts or knowledge end with us.
Jesus didn’t engage his disciples in much teaching because he was a rabbi (Teacher), but he taught so there could be a continuing of all His acts.
Note that Christ is the beginning of our faith and what adds relevance to our faith is that Christ taught us his ways and how to continue in his works. Actions are best understood and continued when taught and explained.
The reason why the church today has proofs for their faith is because a teaching process began even from God the father down to Jesus, His disciples and even to us.
- Every teaching has in itself the power to inform and also prepare the heart for progression.
So what we do is liable to end with us if we do not teach it to others. Any grace functional in a man will only exist as long as he teaches it. So when we refuse to teach others, we refuse continuity.
Our Lord Jesus Christ began His ministry by appoint 12 disciples in Mark 3:14 this was because he wanted to transfer his life into them. Now peoples character becomes noticed when it find expressions in the life of others, that is why we wouldn't have to ask a kid whose child he/she is. After his disciples had finally graduated from learning the life of Christ, the character of Christ becomes noticeable in them. Acts 4:13
Teaching is a living seed that doesn’t fail to reproduce it kind.
About three years ago I joined a fellowship and as ignorant and unlearned in spiritual matters as I was, I noticed there was a young man that was so vested in the knowledge of the scriptures and because of my passion for teaching, we began a journey which he started teaching me how to grow in the knowledge of God.
I return glory to God that those periods of teaching has turned out to produce a massive result as I am now an outreach coordinator in the same fellowship I joined as a young ignorant fellow. I believe God that this write up will changes life’s and also help us debunk the attitude of keeping things as secrets so we can become the change agent God wants us to be.
