And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Today we are going to be looking at the importance of continuing in the Apostles doctrine but first let’s look at the meaning of the word Doctrine
Dictionary definition of Doctrine says that it is a body of ideas, particularly in religion, taught to people as truthful or correct.
In first Peter 2:2 scripture admonishes us to desire as new born babes the sincere milk of the word- sincere teachings of the apostles written down on the scrolls (Bible) that therein lies our spiritual growth and establishment in God.
I will like to paraphrase the above scripture so we will be able to get an understanding from it and see also how it relates to us in this generation. “And they continued steadfastly, paying kin attention to the apostles teaching and putting them into practice in fellowshipping with one another, in breaking of bread and in prayers”. And in verse 43 something unusual happened that totally captured the minds of the early Christian. Bible says that fear came upon the whole people.
Please let me quickly say this that what came upon the early church was not a fear of something bad but a referential fear that brings righteousness and this is what Apostle Paul called in Titus 2:11-12 as the grace of God that teaches men how to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, making them live soberly and righteously, godly.
I’ll like us to understand that the apostle’s doctrine is not a set of teaching but a person and that’s the person of Christ. The apostles doctrine is not a theological teaching formulated and constructed by men but a revelation of the person of Christ.
Reasons why we must continue in the apostle’s doctrine
Because it is the teaching of the personality of Christ Himself
It is the path to spreading or reproducing Jesus in our generation and beyond.
Its gives Christ the platform to express Himself in us daily.
Its grants us total freedom over the flesh and it control.
It multiplies the sign, wonders and miracles of Christ in our generation.
It reveals the kingdom lifestyle to the earth.
By it we become the working episodes of Christ
DANGERS OF NOT CONTINUING IN THE APOSTLES DOCTRINE
It brings discord and disunity in the body of Christ
It discontinue the life of Christ on the etc.
NUGGET
The Apostles doctrine causes continuity to the life of Christ and discontinues it if not followed; refuse a life of rebellion against the apostle’s doctrine.
PRAYER
Mighty and everlasting father thank you for bringing to us this truth and I pray that you grant me grace to continue in the apostles’ doctrine in Jesus precious name. Amen
