Having more rules for these debates might make it fair and it might also come across as controlling the narrative. For that reason, I love the format as it is currently. I love watching these debates to learn what is essential to both sides, how they defend their views, and how well they can hold it together when someone disagrees. These debates, in my opinion, are putting the effort into having hard discussions. Many will say, let's have an open discussion/debate. However, how many actually do it and do it well? This is what open debate looks like in practice. It's heated, it's messy, and thankfully it's also very entertaining.
