Yes, the damascus pattern would be bonus at this point. I'm normally a really like black on black kind of guy, but somehow it just doesn't feel quite right on this sword like I thought it would. Lessons learned and all that... I'd be happy with a clean steel look, and then if I can get the pattern back just gravy on top.
