A new roof install with some timelapse drone video. This is actually my first time attempting some timelapse shots from my drone. I did some normal video and photos at the beginning and end, along with some timelapse segments (called hyperlapse by DJI) video in the middle. I wish I had gotten more of the tear-off, but didn't think about the hyperlapse until they were already well into it. I like the results, and will definitely be trying some more of this hyperlapse stuff.
Some of you may have seen my previous post of damage to our roof that was done in a nasty winter storm with extremely high winds (70mph plus) last December. We lost a couple rather large 3 foot by 6 foot sections of shingles, along with additional smaller areas of damage.
Well after many delays due to snow coverage, timing and insurance adjuster battles, we finally got approval to replace back in May, then actually scheduled for early July. We were very happy they decided to replace the whole roof, rather than multiple patches although they did not pay for the whole roof. We still had to pay about $4K out of pocket due to what the insurance company called "depreciation". Don't get me started ranting about that one, lol. It was almost anti-climatic at that point. Months of waiting for then one day of roofing removal and replacement.
What I really wanted was to replace the whole roof with the new Tesla Solar roof shingles, but not offered in our area just yet. Perhaps next time.
This company and crew were one of the most professional I've dealt with. Extremely pleased with their explaining the process, giving us good selection of roofing choices/options and then quick, professional install. They showed up at 7am, and were finished, cleaned up and gone before 4pm.
Details: This was filmed with DJI Mavic 3. The hyperlapse sections were actually 3 different segments. Each of those segments took 10 minutes to film, took about 200 individual shots for 10 seconds of video each. Pretty slick automatic shooting and compilation by the drone. The other shots I did manually, and then combined all using Adobe Premier. Music added is "Elevate" by Ben Tissot from Bensound.com.

With fall/winter just 3 months away, it feels very good to have a solid roof over our heads again, and I was actually surprised there did not seem to be other internal damage or leakage from the missing shingles after a few months of snow and rain coming down on it, even though the previous roof (12 years old) did not seem to have the fancy underlayment barrier like the new roof has. (I suppose they have learned over the last 10 years). If you look closely, you'll see the new roof also has two layers of snow/ice barrier applied at the bottom edges to prevent water leakage from "ice dams".
