Education is the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction especially at a school or university. It is a process of facilitating learning or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values etc.
According to Nelson Mandela, education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world while Ciara opined that education is everything; it is your power, it gives you a way in life in whatever you want to do. Little wonder education is a fundamental human right!
However, in developing countries, millions of women do not finish school because they are forced (by the society, by their circumstances or by the threat of violence) to focus on household, care giving and child rearing responsibilities.
Let us not forget that no country can truly flourish if it stifles the potentials of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of it's citizens. Women share this planet 50/50 and when they are not well schooled, their potentials are left untapped - what a loss!
Education is the key for women and indeed all to achieve economic independence. Additionally, for there to be any meaningful change in our society , education for all should be mandatory and non negotiable.
