Generative models seem to have cognitive processes down. They can think like us, make art like us, and the like. However, these real world limitations that you point out are a puzzle to many. I think it may have to do with sensory information. AI can't interact with the physical world as well, because the data it trains on is not physical. It's merely just word math.
